My Anniversary With WordPress
First of all, I’d like to apologize for my absence from the site. I’ve been having technical issues with my laptop that has been frustratingly disruptive to my work flow. I talked about it on Twitter some, but I’m sure not everyone that follows the blog saw that. I’ve also been mostly silent on social media because I’m trying to avoid The Last Jedi spoilers until I see it on Friday. Its another obstacle that has been adding to this snowball of frustration I’ve had building in me for a while now. I’ve been having these work flow issues since I had to go to St. Louis for a family emergency.
Dreadtober kind of took a lot out of me and I kept posting without any real break so I’ve decided not to post more blogs until after the New Year. I still plan on releasing the podcast with my mom and I talking about Star Trek(got delayed because of my laptop’s issues) and I’ll be recording another one with the usual suspects during the holiday break, but I won’t be posting any written articles until Tuesday 2, 2018. I’m going to take the time to come up with a loose plan for the site to take EGC to bigger heights through 2018, reconnect with some of my other passions, get back to doing some creative writing, and just take it chill so I can come back with some fresh ideas.
Many content creators rush headlong to their goals, afraid of pausing to enjoy the fruit their labor has already grown, for fear of losing momentum or losing their audience. They continue barreling ahead until stress breaks them, not realizing that this is a war of attrition. You can’t win if you burn out. My goals for EGC are part of an endurance run, not hill sprints. So I’m going to take this time to enjoy life with my family and refocus my goals for the site going into 2018. I’m content with the growth this site has seen in a year; in many ways, it doesn’t even look like the same site. I can look on my about me page and all the goals I’ve written there, I’ve placed my feet on the path towards. I feel 2018 is going to be an awesome year. Happy Holidays from mine to yours and I’ll see y’all again in the New Year.
