Hey, guys! Thanks for all the continued support. The shares, the likes, the comments all really help to elevate the site and motivate me to keep the posts coming. Today I wanted to do a little something different by communicating more openly about some things I have in development.
First an update on the podcast. I’ve taught myself how to use the editing software, purchased the opening theme song(it’s pretty epic and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it), and made some art so it gains more attention on Itunes once I submit it for evaluation. There were some audio kinks in my last recording so sometime this week I’ll have to go out and purchase some pop filters and a desk stand for one of the mics. I’m also testing out different rooms in my house to see which one is going to give us the best sound. Things are coming along nice. I think getting it onto Itunes this month is a manageable goal, but we’ll see.
I’m also batting around some ideas for a Youtube channel, but this is definitely further ahead down the road. Once I get the podcast up and get into a natural work rhythm, then maybe we’ll see what the future brings. I’ve also started building a Patreon page and that will probably be ready sometime after the podcast goes up.
I’m a slight perfectionist when it comes to things that I create. I don’t want my name associated with a subpar product and I think most creators would echo a similar sentiment. I have this idea to get feedback from my readers every couple months just to gauge the health of the community and to maybe even learn a few things about the people who have been supporting EGC. Think of this as a kind of survey. The more people who participate and the more feedback I get (good or bad), the larger the sample size and the more data I have to play around with.
Please give constructive feedback. “You are tacky and I hate you” is not constructive. “I hate you because you only talk about video games and don’t do enough book reviews” is at least somewhat constructive. Even if you think everything is all good and dandy, feel free to write that. You guys can post your thoughts in the comments section of this post or use the contact form to send me an email, however short or long your feedback is.
If you don’t know what kind of feedback to give, here are a few of my ideas.
- What do you like most or least about my posts or the site in general?
- Is the site easy to navigate or confusing in any way?
- Do you use the tags? Which ones are most helpful and which aren’t?
- Do you like not knowing what I’m going to post about or would you rather know ahead of scheduled posts?
- Is there anything you’d like to see more of or less of?
- What is your favorite post/least favorite? Why?
- Would you like to see more posts, more often or fewer, less often? Is three posts a week fine?
- When do you prefer to read your blogs?
- Would you be interested in watching Let’s Plays, in which I play video games and make an ass of myself for the whole world to see?
Once the Patreon page goes up, I’ll probably move these kinds of census checks to that platform, but for now, thank you. Even if you choose not to comment, I appreciate you taking time out of your day to read this. I’m dedicated to seeing EGC grow as a brand and I feel like I’m on the right track just by posting regularly, but your input is invaluable to me. Things like this really help.
